Tips For The Trinityhouse Grade 8 Scholarship Exam

Writing a scholarship exam can be an extremely exciting and daunting process, therefore, in order to yield the best results, it’s imperative that each candidate be well prepared for the task ahead.


What is a Scholarship Exam?


A scholarship exam is aimed at challenging and evaluating each candidates’ intellectual and academic abilities in both Mathematics and English. The Trinityhouse Academic Scholarship exam is set up to evaluate both these criteria as well as test a candidate’s knowledge on work that should have been covered in Grade 6. Candidates from various schools sit these examinations therefore there is an emphasis on skills that all Grade 7 pupils at this stage should Scholarships are awarded on merit and will cover a portion a student’s tuition fees based on their performance.


Applying for a Scholarship at Trinityhouse


You can apply for a Grade 8 Scholarship by filling out the application form and uploading your final Grade 6 report. Your report and application form will be assessed, and only selected applicants will be invited to sit for the examination. The deadline to submit Scholarship applications is the 6th March 2023. The Trinityhouse Scholarship exam will be written on the 10th March 2023 and candidates should come adequately prepared to write the exam.


Scholarship Exam Preparation Tips


  • Revise your Grade 6 work

Go over your work from Grade 6 as well as tests and exams you have access to. The fact is you cannot study for this examination, but revising will boost your confidence!

 

  • Focus on areas of improvement

Focus on areas of study in which you struggled with in Grade 6. Spend more time practicing on your weaker learning areas and turn them into strengths.

 

  • Prepare yourself for problem-solving questions

Place key attention on practicing your problem solving skills with regards to mathematical questions.

 

  • Give yourself time limits

Practice answering questions in a certain amount of time in order to manage your time effectively through the exam.

 

  • Maintain a positive mindset

Reassure yourself that you are well prepared for the exam, visualize a positive outcome and manage stress and anxiety levels before writing the exam.

 

How to manage stress and anxiety before an exam

  • Get a good night’s rest before the exam
  • Eat well and stay active
  • Focus on how well you have prepared for the exam
  • The exam is a challenge not a threat - remember you have surpassed many challenges and this one shouldn’t be any different
  • Try not to cram in last minute revision, this will overwhelm you and possibly increase anxiety levels
  • Increase your positive thoughts and your confidence by visualizing a great outcome
  • Arrive at the exam venue on time
  • Believe in yourself!
