Tyger Valley Preparatory
Private Primary School In Pretoria East

Mr Gavin Langley
Trinityhouse Tyger Valley Preparatory School Principal
At Trinityhouse Tyger Valley Preparatory, we believe that every child should be given the opportunity to discover their strengths, develop their talents and prepare confidently for the future. Our supportive and nurturing environment encourages children to work diligently, think deeply, reason independently and express their creativity. Grounded in Christian values, we are committed to developing the whole child through a balanced education that embraces academics, sport, culture, character and service.
Sport plays an important role in the life of our school. Our proud swimming culture continues to grow, while football, hockey, cricket, tennis, netball and equestrian offer children further opportunities to participate, develop their abilities and represent their school with pride. Annual camps for Grades 3 to 7 encourage independence, teamwork and an appreciation of nature, while sporting tours recognise the dedication and commitment of our senior teams.
Music, culture and the performing arts are equally valued. Many children learn to play a musical instrument, participate in our established choirs and enjoy the excitement of our annual school production. These opportunities build confidence, encourage self-expression and allow every child to experience the joy of creating and performing together.
Service and outreach remain fundamental to our ethos. By raising awareness of endangered wildlife, supporting local schools and disadvantaged communities, and caring for abandoned animals, our children develop compassion, responsibility and a meaningful social conscience from an early age.
Visitors to Trinityhouse Tyger Valley Preparatory will encounter happy, confident and well-mannered children who thrive within our close-knit school community. They arrive each morning eager to learn and leave at the end of the day with new experiences and stories to share.
The African proverb, “It takes a village to raise a child,” truly reflects life at our school. We are blessed with talented teachers, dedicated staff and passionate parents who work together to guide and support every child. Through this partnership, our motto, “Through enjoyment to excellence,” is brought to life in every aspect of the Trinityhouse Tyger Valley Preparatory experience.
Academics
Foundation Phase: Grade 1-3
Trinityhouse Tyger Valley Preparatory School’s Foundation Phase (Grades 1–3) offers a child-centred, inquiry-based academic programme that integrates the CAPS curriculum with future-focused learning.
Small-group rotational activities, focused teacher support and classes limited to 25 students enable personalised teaching while developing strong foundational skills, independence and global competencies such as critical thinking, communication, collaboration, research and self-management.
Through meaningful parent–pupil experiences, students confidently demonstrate their learning, reflect on their progress and set goals for continued growth.
Intersen Phase: Grade 4 – 7
At Trinityhouse Tyger Valley Senior Preparatory School, we continue to strengthen essential academic foundations while guiding students towards more abstract thinking, greater independence and increased responsibility for their learning.
Students are prepared for High School by learning to apply their knowledge, skills and concepts confidently across a variety of contexts. Creativity, problem-solving and critical thinking are encouraged by providing opportunities for students to make informed choices within clear and supportive boundaries.
Our teaching follows the CAPS curriculum, as prescribed by the Department of Basic Education, laying a strong academic foundation for students’ progression to High School and ultimately the IEB examinations in Grade 12.
