It was drama, drama and then more drama at the recent opening leg of the Gauteng Regional Amateur Dramatics Series Festival. Trinityhouse Randpark Ridge High School was privileged to be a hosting school for this prestigious festival.
Audiences were wowed by the opening play and definitely were not disappointed by the ten plays which followed.
We were in a privileged position to enter two plays into the festival, “School Lockdown” and “Much Ado About Money” – both original scripts written by Aphiwe Gwiji, a Matric pupil in our school. The adjudicators were extremely impressed with both scripts and with how they played out on stage.
Visiting schools included Edenvale High School, Sutherland High School, Greenside High School, Jeppe Boys, Covenant College, Roosevelt High School and Benoni High School. The plays performed by each school were vastly different and the array of talent was staggering.
Our two plays fared extremely well and we were so proud of the nine Merit Awards for acting and twelve nominations for Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Cameo (in each play), Best Set, Best Costume, Best Original Script (for both plays),Best Lighting and Best Sound which the two plays achieved.
Drama is really growing at our school and with every event staged, the passion to act is being ignited in more and more of our pupils. Long may this continue.
