Academic - 10/23/2015
Our Pre-Primary and Preparatory schools are run completely separately from each other. However, the move from Pre-school into Grade One requires that the schools work together. With this in mind the Principal of the Pre-Primary and the Foundation Phase Deputy Principal work closely to make this transition as happy and smooth as possible for the children and their parents.
The Grade R children and their parents are invited to spend a morning at the Preparatory School towards the end of their Grade R year. They are entertained by the Grade One children who proudly produce a showcase of all they have learnt in Grade One. The children then meet their Grade One teacher and take part in a variety of activities designed to encourage their excitement for Grade One.
Grade One class lists are drawn up by the Pre-Primary teachers and Principal in consultation with the Preparatory School.
We have found these processes are most helpful in ensuring that our children make the transition from Grade R to Grade One smoothly.
