Outreach - 09/21/2016
We are so proud of our Grade 8 learners who became entrepreneurs during the month of August in order to raise funds for the Thandanani House of Refuge.
Thandanani House is in Zandspruit and the aim of this outreach project is to care for orphaned, abandoned and abused children. Thandanani currently cares for 29 children and has a staff complement of two house mothers as well as a house couple, a domestic helper and a house manager. Each child is nurtured, schooled and skilled for a hope-filled future.
Trinityhouse has been intrinsically involved in the Thandanani Project since its inception in 1999 and each year, through the efforts of the Grade 8 learners, it contributes significantly to the running of the house.
Throughout August, the school grounds were abuzz with eager young businessmen and ladies selling a variety of delicious home-baked goods and beautifully-crafted ornaments. Through their enthusiasm, hard work and excellent entrepreneurial skills, the group was able to raise a staggering amount of just over R200 000,00!
Not only does involvement in this cause have great monetary value but it teaches the children about so much more – giving one’s time and efforts to help those who are less fortunate and that we can all make a difference, no matter how big or small.
