Every year Trinityhouse High School Randpark Ridge Grade 8’s assist the Thandanani House of Refuge in fundraising by starting their own entrepreneurial businesses. This year, these businesses were run over a period of 4 weeks and came to a close on the 29th of August. The Grade 8’s worked exceptionally hard and had some very creative ideas, such as hosting high tea’s and golf days. Some pupils preferred to provide services such as car washing, whilst others decided to focus more on the “sweeter” things in life selling tasty treats ranging from lemonade and snow cones to baked goods and even curries! All these products and services contributed towards them raising approximately R131 000 (excluding company donations). These funds will be used to cover day to day running expenses of the Thandanani House, such as providing food, fuel, clothing and more for the next two to three months. Pupils were also required to visit the Thandanani House and meet the pupils they were working for – inspiring them to work towards an even greater goal.
