Darren de Gouviea-Smith – Principal
It is a privilege to serve as Principal of Trinityhouse Palm Lakes Preparatory and High Schools and on behalf of all the staff members I would like to welcome everyone to our wonderful school. Trinityhouse has an outstanding reputation as a leading Independent Christian School Brand, and I am proud to be part of this growing young school,...
a school that holds much excitement for the future. Our school is filled with enthusiastic children willing to learn, supportive parents interested in their children’s education, and dedicated professional staff committed to providing the learners with a quality education. Our ever-expanding superb modern facilities enable us to deliver our curriculum in a welcoming environment that is intimate, friendly and attuned to an individual’s needs. Our classes are comparatively small which creates an atmosphere where our children can feel relaxed and comfortable.
Our school is nestled in the rolling cane fields of the quiet area of Tinley Manor as part of the Palm Lakes Family Estate, which is not far from the towns of Umhlali and Salt Rock and only a few minutes from the ‘hustle and bustle’ of the rapidly expanding town of Ballito. Our High School Boarding facilities are modern houses in the secure gated environment of the estate where we provide a safe and comfortable living setting that has a supportive extended family feel with a “home from home” atmosphere.
Our teachers and students are at the heart of our school community, a community that prides itself on being a ‘family school’. Similarly, we ensure that our children appreciate the opportunities which are given to meet their social-emotional needs and are therefore involved in their wider community through a focused Outreach Programme to create a sense of connection and opportunity to serve others.
At Trinityhouse we are passionate about teaching and learning and its ability to transform lives, giving our children the necessary skills to write the IEB examinations in Grade 12, so that they are well equipped to take on the challenges of tertiary education. We will accomplish this by setting high academic expectations for all children and providing supportive systems to assure they are met.
Trinityhouse learners are well-rounded, balanced individuals who are self-disciplined, confident, and who are encouraged to make the most of every opportunity on offer at our school.
We hope your visit to our website will give you a quick snapshot of life at our school. Please explore links to find out more about our curriculum and events at Trinityhouse Palm Lakes.
Each child’s stay at our wonderful school is one that is filled with love, fun, learning, success and fulfillment.

The Marimba is one of those truly African instruments that can be played easily by anyone and everyone. The marimba...
provides the perfect accompaniment to dancing and singing as well as being a marvellous solo and ensemble instrument. Together with a variety of percussion instruments, the marimba band can play anything from traditional African, jazz, pop and classical music. The beauty of this instrument is that NO previous music knowledge is necessary and within a short space of time groups of learners are playing together like seasoned musicians. At Trinityhouse Palm Lakes we use our marimbas in the music classroom as part of CAPS, making the music lessons come alive and excites every learner who enters the music classroom!
